CallReply

How CallReply answers your missed calls

A call comes in and you do not pick up, or you decline it. CallReply spots it in the call log, checks your rules and sends a text from your own number. Everything then shows up in the history and in your client area.

  1. 01

    A missed call 0 s

You're with a client, driving or on another line. CallReply sees it, even with the phone locked.

  2. 02

Your text goes out a few seconds

From your own number, with the contact's first name when you know it. Your customer gets a normal text and can reply.

  3. 03

The customer waits for you then

They know you saw it and will call back. Everything is logged in your history, on the phone and on the web.

10:42 Missed call · Mrs Leroy 10:42 Text sent from your number

Hello, I'm on a job site. I'll call you back before 1 pm. Christophe, Martin Plumbing

Great, thanks. It's about the leak under the sink.

Example. The text is yours, change it whenever you like.

And in your client area

Every missed call and every SMS is sent up to your web client area. The dashboard shows four counters, missed calls, SMS sent, SMS delivered and SMS failed, with activity charts over 7, 30 or 90 days or any period you choose.

Online, you edit your templates and STOP list, browse the history filtered by date, number or event type, and manage your devices and subscription. If you agree, your contacts are synced so names appear instead of bare numbers.

Install and set up

Download the APK from callreply.fr and install it on a phone running Android 8.0 or later. Create your account, then write your message in the French template and, if needed, the English one. Next, choose which calls trigger a text: missed, declined, or both. The setup guide walks you through to your first test. You can change these choices at any time.

Grant the permissions

CallReply needs to read the call log to spot unanswered calls and to send SMS so it can reply from your SIM. Contacts access is optional. On some brands, such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo or Huawei, you also need to exclude the app from battery optimisation: the guide shows where that setting lives on your model. Each permission is explained before it is requested.

Guardrails before every send

Before sending, CallReply checks several rules. Is the number on the STOP list? Has it already had a text today? Has the daily cap been reached? Has the minimum gap since the last send passed? If a rule blocks the send, the call appears in the history with the reason. A withheld number gets nothing, as there is no number to reply to.

If the phone was switched off

Detection works with the phone locked or asleep. If it was switched off, or the battery died, CallReply keeps a resume point: on restart, it reads the call log from that point and handles the calls missed in the meantime. The guardrails apply in exactly the same way, so a caller does not get several texts for the same day.

The permissions, one by one

The same explanations as in the app: what each permission is for, what CallReply never does, and what happens if you refuse it. In the app, each one also shows its status (Allowed · Refused · To change in the settings) and the button to set it.

Essential Without it, CallReply can't answer your missed calls properly.

Call log To see that a call was missed or declined, so you can answer it by SMS.
What it is for
To see that a call was missed or declined, so you can answer it by SMS.
What CallReply doesn't do
We never listen to or record a call: only the number, the time and the call type are read.
If you refuse
No missed call is detected: automatic and scheduled replies are stopped. History already sent stays readable.
Phone To react as soon as a call ends, and to pick the right SIM on a dual-SIM phone.

What CallReply doesn't do
We never place, block or record a call.
If you refuse
Detection relies on the call log alone: the reply may go out a few minutes later. On a dual-SIM phone, the default SIM is used.
SMS To send the reply from your own number, with nobody in between.
What it is for
To send the reply from your own number, with nobody in between.
What CallReply doesn't do
We don't read your SMS, and only the replies you set up go out, within your daily cap.
If you refuse
No reply can leave your number: automatic and scheduled replies are stopped. Missed calls are still detected and counted.

Recommended CallReply works without it, but less well.

If you refuse
Replies may go out late or not at all, especially on Samsung.
Alarms & reminders To send scheduled replies at the exact time you chose.

What it is for
To show your customers' first names and write "Hello Marie" with {first_name}.
What CallReply doesn't do

If you refuse
First names are not shown and {first_name} is replaced by a neutral greeting.
Phone numbers To check that the phone's SIM card matches your account's number.
What it is for
To check that the phone's SIM card matches your account's number.
What CallReply doesn't do
Only your own line's number is read, for this check.
If you refuse
The app can't check that the SIM matches your account. Everything else works.

Frequently asked questions

How soon after the call does the text go out?

By default, as soon as the call appears as missed or declined in the call log and your rules allow it: that is automatic mode. In scheduled mode, the texts all go out together at the time you choose, for example 6:00 pm.

Can I stop texts going to certain numbers?

Yes, with the STOP list. Numbers on it never receive a text. You can edit it on the phone or from the web client area.

What if the same person calls several times?

They only get one text per day. Later calls are logged in the history marked as already answered today.

What if I want to reply myself?

Open the missed call in the history and send a reply in one tap. Manual reply stays free, even without a subscription.
